Northgate High’s boys cross country team finished third at a Diablo Athletic League meet, trailing second-place Miramonte by just 16 points, according to a school team update dated Oct. 4.
Junior Niko Windham led the Broncos at the league meet, which Campolindo won. Campolindo was ranked No. 11 nationally in boys cross country in DyeStat’s Oct. 1 rankings.
Coach Ruth Seabrook wrote that the Broncos would look to narrow the gap at the second league meet. The update did not give that meet’s date.
Seabrook called the squad “a broad based younger team with many candidates for the seven varsity spots.” The Broncos have “been improving all season and are doing a great job of pack running,” she wrote.
Northgate plans to send 14 runners to the Rough Rider Invitational. Seabrook also said 28 boys planned to compete at the Mt. SAC Invitational, which the Oct. 4 update described as three weeks away.
League winner Campolindo also earned honorable mention in CalHiSports.com’s all-sports School of the Year recognition, which cited its boys and girls cross country programs among other sports.
