Walnut Creek residents have three fall events to consider, starting with the seventh annual Trunk or Treat at Civic Park on Friday, Oct. 23.
Walnut Creek Arts + Rec announced the lineup, which also includes Center REP's "Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors" at the Lesher Center for the Arts and a Chili Bowl Fundraiser benefiting student scholarships.
Trunk or Treat: Oct. 23
The Trunk or Treat runs from 3 to 6 p.m. at Civic Park. The first hour, 3 to 4 p.m., is a low-sensory window with no music or jump-scares and allergy-friendly treats. It includes a "Whispering Witches Room" with touch-friendly decorations, quiet zones and calming tools available for checkout from Specialized Recreation staff, according to the event listing.
The general event begins at 4 p.m. with music, a scavenger hunt with prizes, giveaways and trunk-or-treating. Bring buckets or bags for candy.
"Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors," Oct. 25–Nov. 15
Center REP, Contra Costa County's professional theater company, begins previews of "Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors" at the Lesher Center on Sunday, Oct. 25. The show runs through Sunday, Nov. 15.
Written by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen and directed by Becca Wolff, the comedy features five actors playing nearly 20 characters.
The official opening night is Saturday, Oct. 31. The city's newsletter also advertises an opening-night costume party after the performance.
Single tickets are on sale through the production page and Lesher Center ticket office. The office is open Wednesday through Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. The box office number is 925-943-7469.
Chili Bowl Fundraiser: Nov. 14
The Center for Community Arts and the Clay Arts Guild co-host their annual Chili Bowl Fundraiser at the Civic Park Assembly Hall on Saturday, Nov. 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the city's October newsletter.
Attendees pick up a bowl of chili and choose from more than 200 handcrafted bowls to take home. Clay Arts Guild members will also run a ceramic pop-up at the event. All proceeds go to student scholarships for the ceramic program. Tickets are available online or at the door.
