Contra Costa County prosecutors allege a Daly City man burglarized storage units across Walnut Creek while he was already released on bail or his own recognizance in another felony case, according to police.

Francis Robinson, 43, faces 26 burglary counts and a sentencing enhancement allegation under California Penal Code Section 12022.1 for allegedly committing a felony while released on bail or on his own recognizance, according to a Walnut Creek Police Department news release. Police said in the Nov. 2 release that Robinson remained in custody with bail set at $3 million.

The charges are allegations. Robinson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

How the investigation unfolded

Walnut Creek police began investigating a series of storage unit burglaries on Oct. 18, according to the department’s release. The first officer on scene identified a potential suspect, and the detective bureau opened a follow-up investigation.

Detectives located and arrested Robinson on Oct. 27. Searches of several storage units linked to Robinson yielded property connected to the Walnut Creek cases and burglaries in nearby cities, police said.

On Oct. 30, detectives presented the case to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office, which filed the 26 burglary counts.

The release does not identify the targeted storage facilities or describe the recovered items.
