An 84-year-old man lost consciousness on a trail near Old Borges Ranch in Walnut Creek on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Firefighters and paramedics reached him just before noon. He was conscious when rescuers arrived, according to Claycord.com, which first reported the rescue.

The emergency response sent multiple fire trucks along Oak Grove Road, which runs through the residential area near the trailhead. No agency has released details about the man's condition after the rescue or how crews transported him off the trail.

Old Borges Ranch sits within Shell Ridge Open Space, one of four open space areas managed by the City of Walnut Creek. The city's open space division oversees more than 3,000 acres of preserved land and more than seven miles of neighborhood trails across those areas.

The responding agency has not been officially identified. Claycord.com referred to "firefighters and paramedics" but did not name a department. The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, known as ConFire, serves the area surrounding the ranch.

The man's identity has not been disclosed. Neither ConFire nor any other agency has released a public statement about the rescue.
