The 32-year-old woman killed in a single-vehicle crash near the entrance to Rossmoor on Thursday, Aug. 13, has been identified as Rachel Doron Arganek, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Division.

Arganek died in the early-morning collision near Rossmoor Parkway and Stanley Dollar Drive. She was the car's sole occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.

The identification, reported by Claycord.com on Tuesday, Aug. 18, came five days after the crash. Neither of the Walnut Creek Record's two earlier reports on the collision, including our initial report on the fatal Rossmoor-area crash, included the victim's name, which had not yet been released.

The Walnut Creek Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Police have not said whether speed, impairment or a medical emergency played a role. No additional details about the collision have been released by law enforcement.

The crash was reported at approximately 5:06 a.m. on a stretch of road near the gated entrance to Rossmoor, an active-adult community of roughly 9,800 residents aged 55 and older. Stanley Dollar Drive branches off Rossmoor Parkway and leads to several of the community's major buildings. Police have not indicated whether Arganek lived in Rossmoor or was passing through the area.
