Registration is open for COPA Soccer Training Center's Winter Futsal League, giving Walnut Creek kids ages U8 through U14 a chance to play competitive indoor soccer this winter. Early-bird pricing runs through Sept. 7.

COPA STC, based in Walnut Creek, announced on X that sign-ups began Monday, Aug. 24, for the youth league, which features 5-on-5 play on the center's indoor arenas.

The league has sold out early the past two seasons, according to the facility's website, which says it expects to be completely sold out by Sept. 21 this year.

Games kick off the weekend of Nov. 21–22, with the championship weekend set for Feb. 20–21, 2027. Final registration closes Oct. 31.

What parents need to know

All matches are played at COPA STC's Turf Arena and Futsal Arena, both built with a 10mm Nike Grind SmashPad underlayment that cushions impact. No cleats allowed. Players must wear futsal shoes, indoor shoes or rubber-soled athletic shoes.

Games run two 20-minute halves on a running clock with no offsides. U8–U12 divisions use a size 3 ball; U13 and up use a size 4. COPA STC provides referees and game balls for every match. Boys play on Saturdays and girls play on Sundays, according to the facility's website.

Each gender and age group will have multiple divisions to balance competition. Teams can roster unlimited players, though only 12 may dress per game.

How to register

Families can sign up at copastc.com/youth-leagues. Early-bird pricing is $1,099 through Sept. 7; regular pricing is $1,200. The overall registration deadline is Oct. 31, but spots have filled before that cutoff in recent years.

The league is open to boys and girls. With games starting Nov. 21, families eyeing early-bird savings have less than two weeks to lock in a spot.
