Community Concern for Cats is bringing adoptable kittens to more Walnut Creek shoppers.

The all-volunteer nonprofit has expanded its weekend adoption events to Pet Food Express stores in Walnut Creek and Martinez, adding two locations beyond its longtime Newell Avenue site.

The move means residents who might never visit the rescue's main facility can meet cats while picking up supplies. Among those hoping for a home are Cici and Darcy, three-month-old bonded kittens who have watched other kittens leave every weekend. They're still waiting.

Cici is a black female kitten, and Darcy has a tortoiseshell coat. The organization describes them as affectionate, playful and inseparable, and says they must be adopted together. Residents interested in meeting the pair can contact CC4C volunteer Lori at [email protected] or 209-996-8870.

The Walnut Creek Pet Food Express at 1388 S. California Blvd. hosts adoptions every Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. The Martinez location at 500 Center Ave. holds events Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m., except the third Saturday of each month. Both sites supplement CC4C's primary adoption center at 1250-H Newell Ave., which is open Fridays from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.

The expansion appeared in CC4C's East Bay Times listing as early as Monday, July 13, and the organization's website confirms the recurring schedule.

CC4C, which has operated in Contra Costa County since 1986, reported on its website that more than 3,000 cats received spay or neuter surgeries or medical treatment at its Cat Hospital in 2025, and over 1,100 foster cats found permanent homes through its adoption program that year.

The group also holds a monthly adoption event at the Lafayette Pet Food Express, 3610 Mt. Diablo Blvd., on the first Sunday of each month from 1 to 4 p.m. The next Lafayette event falls on Sunday, August 2.
