A police pursuit passed through Walnut Creek on Thursday, Aug. 20, after a retail theft at a Pleasant Hill Marshalls triggered a multi-agency chase that ended with three arrests in Concord.
The incident began just after 5 p.m. when Pleasant Hill Police officers responded to the Crossroads Shopping Center for a theft in progress involving three people, the Pleasant Hill Police Department said on Instagram. Officers spotted the suspects leaving in a white Toyota pickup and attempted a traffic stop.
The driver refused to stop, striking a patrol car and an uninvolved parked vehicle before fleeing the area.
The Walnut Creek Police Department assisted in the pursuit alongside the California Highway Patrol and Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, according to Pleasant Hill Police. Claycord reported that Concord Police and Clayton Police also responded.
The chase passed through Walnut Creek before officers located the truck on Ygnacio Valley Road in Concord. All three suspects bailed from the vehicle and ran. Officers caught them after a brief foot chase that ended at Boatwright Fields, off Pine Hollow Road.
No officers or members of the public were injured.
Investigators later determined the white Toyota pickup had been reported stolen to the Oakland Police Department. Pleasant Hill Police labeled the case an "Organized Retail Theft / Stolen Vehicle Arrest."
The three suspects were booked into Contra Costa County jail. Their names and specific charges have not been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.
