The former Genova Delicatessen storefront at 1105 S. California Blvd. has a new tenant. MIXT, the San Francisco-founded fast-casual chain known for salads, grain bowls, and sandwiches, opened its 21st location in downtown Walnut Creek on Tuesday, July 14.
The restaurant takes over the South California Boulevard space and marks MIXT's third East Bay outpost, joining existing locations in Berkeley at 2150 Shattuck Ave. and Oakland at 2299 Broadway, according to the company's website.
Leslie and David Silverglide founded MIXT in 2006, opening the first location in San Francisco's Financial District. The chain now spans the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Dallas.
Hours at the Walnut Creek location are 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, according to the company's website.
Valkyries partnership on the menu
Among the offerings is the Valkyries 2.0 Salad, developed in partnership with the Golden State Valkyries. The salad features romaine hearts, cabbage, blackened chicken, radicchio, watermelon, feta, kalamata olives, pickled red onions, cucumbers, and preserved lemon mint vinaigrette, topped with walnut dukkah. It has 625 calories and 34 grams of protein. A seasonal Valkyries Celery Cucumber Green Apple Agua Fresca rounds out the tie-in.
Customers can also build their own bowls from more than 80 ingredients, order sandwiches, or grab cookies baked in-house daily.
