The Acalanes Union High School District and Tice Creek School landed on the 2026 California Honor Roll, a statewide recognition for schools closing achievement gaps.

The honor roll, reported Oct. 23 by Contra Costa News, named 46 Contra Costa County schools and six county districts among 2,080 schools and 168 districts recognized across California. Educational Results Partnership announced the statewide list. The nonprofit and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence present the award.

Acalanes Union was one of six county districts to make the list. Two of its campuses, Campolindo High School and Miramonte High School, also earned individual school honors, according to the official honoree lists. Las Lomas High School and Northgate High School, two Walnut Creek campuses, were not named as individual school honorees. Las Lomas is part of Acalanes Union; Northgate belongs to Mt. Diablo Unified.

Tice Creek School, part of the Walnut Creek School District, was the only WCSD campus recognized.

The honor roll, now in its 12th year, uses California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress results from 2024 through 2026. According to Educational Results Partnership, schools that earn the distinction have shown consistently high student achievement, improvement over time and a reduction in achievement gaps among student groups.

Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools Lynn Mackey said the recognition “highlights how public education in Contra Costa County is preparing students to be future ready with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive in college, careers and their communities,” according to the announcement published by Contra Costa News.

The other five county districts honored were Brentwood Union School District, Lafayette Elementary School District, Moraga Elementary School District, Orinda Union School District and San Ramon Valley Unified School District.

Several Mt. Diablo Unified School District campuses also made the school-level list. They include College Park High School, Hidden Valley Elementary, Monte Gardens Elementary, Pleasant Hill Middle School, Sequoia Middle School and Walnut Acres Elementary.

Educational Results Partnership describes the honor roll as the only school recognition program in the state based solely on student achievement outcomes and presented in partnership with business leaders.
