Walnut Creek residents looking to help local families this summer can drop off new infant clothing and baby supplies at the Nuvision Credit Union branch on Ygnacio Valley Road. The drive runs through early August, according to a July 15 announcement from the credit union. Residents may want to confirm accepted items and the deadline with the branch before visiting, as the credit union's website lists slightly different details.
The credit union launched its NuvisionCares Helping Kids in Our Community drive in July, partnering with Concord-based nonprofit White Pony Express to collect essentials for infants and their families across Contra Costa County. All donated items go directly to White Pony Express for distribution.
"Receiving something as simple as clean, well-chosen clothes for their baby can be profoundly meaningful," Eve Birge, CEO of White Pony Express, said in a statement announcing the partnership on July 15.
Why it matters
White Pony Express, founded in 2013 and based in Concord, serves roughly 120,000 people annually in Contra Costa County through its food rescue and clothing distribution programs, according to its own figures. The nonprofit operates with a staff of 17 and nearly 2,000 volunteers, partnering with more than 100 other nonprofits to reach families in need.
The drive comes after a difficult stretch for the organization. In May 2025, the East Bay Times reported that federal and state funding cuts had erased nearly $450,000 from White Pony Express's budget. Birge told the paper at the time, "We see the desperation in the faces of people we serve."
Nuvision Credit Union, headquartered in Huntington Beach, operates six Bay Area branches.
