Rep. Mark DeSaulnier is holding a virtual town hall on affordability Tuesday, Oct. 20, open to Walnut Creek residents and other constituents across California's 10th Congressional District.

The event runs from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Pacific time on Zoom and will be streamed on YouTube, according to a press release from DeSaulnier’s office. It marks the congressman's 279th town hall or constituent office hours session since he took office in January 2015.

DeSaulnier's office said the forum will cover the rising cost of living, including gas prices, healthcare costs and the impact of tariffs. The press release framed the discussion around what it called "the high price of gas and goods due to Trump's war in Iran" and "skyrocketing healthcare costs following Republicans' passage of the Big Ugly Bill." The congressman said he plans to provide updates on his efforts in Congress to address those costs.

Two policy experts will join DeSaulnier as panelists. Emily DiVito, senior advisor for economic policy at the Groundwork Collaborative, and Evan White, executive director of the California Policy Lab at UC Berkeley, are both listed as guests. DeSaulnier's office said the panelists will take constituent questions during the session.

DeSaulnier said on X on Oct. 14 that he has "heard from constituents around CA-10 about how they are struggling to keep up with the rising prices of gas, groceries, healthcare, and more."

Residents who want to participate live on Zoom can RSVP through DeSaulnier’s town hall page or call his Walnut Creek office at 925-933-2660. The same page accepts requests for special accommodations.

DeSaulnier's district office is located at 3100 Oak Road, Suite 110, in Walnut Creek.
